About WCAPN

Welcome to the Wyoming Council for Advanced Practice Nursing (WCAPN), a non-profit professional organization dedicated to promoting and advocating for Advanced Practice Nurses throughout Wyoming.  WCAPN members take leadership roles in today's health care fields, and are knowledgeable about the issues that surround their profession.

WCAPN provides continuing education programs, offers opportunities to collaborate with other professionals and organizations and supports legislation as it relates to Advanced Practice Nurses. Through an annual conference and periodic seminars related to issues facing APN's today, WCAPN offers opportunities for continuing education and networking.

WCAPN is involved in a variety of activities that promote and advocate for Wyoming Advanced Practice Nurses. WCAPN actively examines the actions of the legislative and administrative branches of Wyoming government. WCAPN advocates for and represents the positions of the APN's of the state of Wyoming.

Why are Nurse Practitioners so different?

Nurse Practitioners are health care professionals dedicated to treating the whole person. Nurse practitioners have a unique approach to healthcare, we examine, diagnose and treat the entire person. This includes disease management, education, prevention tactics and health promotion. Nurse practitioners may also be specialized.

Education and Certification

Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses that acquire specialized training through a Master's or Doctorate program. These programs are graduate study in health sciences that include pharmacology, pathophysiology and courses in diagnosis and clinical management of health and illness. Nurse Practitioners are also certified through a national credentialing body.
